Executive Center on Thursday,
November 13, to listen to the words of
Duane K. Kurisu, Chairman of the AIO

"magic" everyday by his employees has
led to success in life, business, and
community pride.

The event, entitled "Make a Life. Make a
Difference.  An evening with Duane K.
Kurisu," was the inaugural event of the
Young Business Council, which formed
in September 2003.
More than 120 professionals packed Bronson's Restaurant at the

business philsophy, and his plans for the future.
The YBC's mission is to create venues for Hawaii's
young professional community to learn and
develop from the experiences of well known
captains of industry, while making meaningful
contributions to the communities in which they
serve.

"There is a dream that the Young Business
Council can make a big difference in the lives of
young professionals in Hawaii," stated Kevin
Matsuda, Chairman of the Young Business
Council.  "We are designing a program that will
benefit professionals of all ages and industries; a
program that the officers, directors, and sponsors
feel will add value to Hawaii's young professionals
regardless of occupation or industry."

Kurisu, who holds ownership interests in a number
of well known Hawaii Companies including Punaluu
Bakery, PacificBasin Communications, and the
Hawaii Sports Network, provided an honest and
candid approach in the philosophy he lives by and
instills in the people he employs.  "Each of us,"
Kurisu stated, "has the power to make a difference
in people's lives."
Duane Kurisu, Chairman of the AIO Group, chatted with
many in the crowd after his speech, including YBC
member Darryl Miki of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
"Each of us has the
power to make a
difference in
people's lives."

Kurisu's belief in making a difference extends to
each loaf of bread that Punaluu Bakery produces
each day.  Kurisu stated that the bread they bake
is their personal gift to the world and he
encourages the bakery's employees to take pride
in their work, their company, and their community.
Each loaf, according to Kurisu, can "touch the
lives of Hawaii visitor's in some small way."

Many who know Kurisu, know that he is a tough
business competitor and operator, but they also
know he is compassionate.  "Truly successful
businesses help humanity," said Kurisu, "The
beauty of business is that it allows it to help
anyone."

Kurisu belives in continuous improvement and
searching for new opportunities.  "We are never
satisfied," stated Kurisu.  "We never sit still.  We
can always work on being better."

He also stated that he is planning a number of
initiatives that, although he could not disclose
publicaly, would have a broad impact on Hawaii.

Kurisu reiterated he believes in Hawaii and its
economy.  As evidence:  his recent purchase of a
stake in the Honolulu Star Bulletin and ownership
in local media related entities such as KKEA 1420
AM and Watermark Publishing.  "I strongly believe
Hawaii has a bright future," said Kurisu, "So we
are investing in Hawaii."
